Installer profile
Energy Plus Solar
There is no California licensee called Energy Plus Solar. That sounds alarming and needs explaining rather than shouting. Business-name searches for "Energy Plus Solar" and "Energy Plus" returned nothing in Palmdale. Searching "ENERGY +" returns license 736839, active, at 39450 3rd St E #131, Palmdale, phone (661) 718-2070. Both the street address and the phone number match what energyplussolar.com publishes, and BBB carries the profile as "Energy +" with the alternate name Energy Plus at the same address. LinkedIn lists Eric Wedell as chief executive of Energy Plus Solar in Palmdale, and a third-party license-data site records the sole owner of 736839 as Eric John Wedell; CSLB's detail page does not print the owner name. So the identification is an inference from matching address, phone, and owner data, not a statement CSLB makes. We treat license status as pending for exactly that reason. Ask the company to confirm 736839 in writing, because the number appears nowhere on its own site.
The license itself is the strongest classification set in this Antelope Valley group: C-46 Solar and C-10 Electrical, plus C-20 HVAC and C-38 Refrigeration, issued June 5, 1997 and current through June 30, 2027. That 1997 date is corroborated three ways, by the site's "Operating since 1997", by BBB's Business Started 6/5/1997 with 28 years in business, and by the license issue date. BBB rates it A+ and accredited since August 15, 2024, with no complaint records and no three-year count published, and CSLB shows no disciplinary action, citation, accusation, or civil judgment. The entity form is sole ownership, not a corporation or LLC, which matters for who stands behind a 25-year system: a sole ownership does not outlive its owner the way a corporation can.
Now the item to check before you sign anything. The workers compensation certificate on file, State Compensation Insurance Fund policy 9354568, was effective March 2, 2026 with a cancellation date of August 29, 2026, six days after this record was pulled. A cancellation date on file is a point-in-time fact, and it can be replaced by a new policy, but coverage for the people on your roof is not something to assume. Ask for a current certificate of insurance naming the policy period. Related gap: the site publishes no workmanship or labor warranty terms at all, only "Best-In-Class Product Warranty" and a master-dealer page referring to the panel manufacturer's warranty.
Worth a quote, with the SunPower question asked out loud. The site brands itself "SunPower by Energy Plus Solar" and states it is a SunPower Master Dealer, so ask who honors SunPower-branded product and labor claims today and get the answer in writing next to the installer's own obligations. A 1997 license with C-46 and C-10 in a sole ownership is real operating history. The paperwork around it is what keeps this at C.
The evidence
Consistent across three sources, which is rare in this set. CSLB issued license 736839 on June 5, 1997, BBB records Business Started 6/5/1997 and Business Started Locally 6/5/1997 with 28 years in business, and the site says operating since 1997. The why-us page's softer over 25 years of experience line fits the same timeline.

BBB rates the Energy + profile A+, accredited since August 15, 2024, with no government-action alert, and its complaints tab publishes no records and no three-year count, which is absence of published records rather than a certified zero. CSLB shows no disclosable action, citation, or civil judgment on 736839. A search for Energy Plus lawsuits surfaces Yu et al. v. Energy Plus Holdings, LLC in New Jersey federal court, which involves an unrelated energy retailer and not this Palmdale contractor.

No install count, megawatt total, or crew size was published on the home, why-us, master-dealer, or site-map pages, and the company does not appear on Solar Power World's 2026 national, 2025 California, or 2026 installer lists. No review-platform rating was verified from a fetched page this session either, so there is no independent measure of scale.
Active, but matched by inference. CSLB has no licensee named Energy Plus Solar; license 736839 is held under the name ENERGY +, sole ownership, 39450 3rd St E #131, Palmdale, phone (661) 718-2070, which are the same address and phone the company publishes. Classifications are C-20, C-38, C-46 Solar, and C-10 Electrical, issued June 5, 1997, expiring June 30, 2027, with a $25,000 Atlantic Specialty bond effective January 20, 2026. The workers compensation policy carries a cancellation date of August 29, 2026, six days after this pull, and the company publishes no license number of its own.

Nothing quantified. The why-us page offers Best-In-Class Product Warranty and the master-dealer page says the manufacturer's industry leading warranty ensures decades of trouble-free solar savings. No labor coverage statement, no year figure, no exclusions. Given the SunPower branding on the site, ask separately who honors the product claims and who honors the installation labor.

How to read this
Read the C as a comment on documentation, not on the age of the business. Nearly 30 years of licensed trade work with a C-46 and a C-10 is a real asset; a brand name that never appears in the state database, a sole ownership entity, an unrenewed workers compensation certificate on file, and no written labor warranty are real friction. Two requests fix most of it: current proof of insurance with dates, and the license number confirmed on company letterhead. If a salesperson cannot produce either one, that answer tells you something on its own. Our full rubric, including how our own installation business gets graded on the same scale, is on the methodology page. We are a solar installer and we partner with other solar companies. Grading is structurally separated from revenue; see disclosures.
