ION Solar Oklahoma

ION Solar is a national residential installer headquartered in Utah, not a local Oklahoma company, and you should judge it on the national record rather than the local storefront. Its Oklahoma City BBB record is thin and clean, an A rating on a file opened August 20, 2024 with no complaints shown, rated that way purely on length of time in business. The headquarters record is where the history lives: an A+ accredited profile carrying 320 complaints in the last 3 years, 100 closed in the last 12 months, and a government action alert. Recent complaints from July 2026 describe aggressive door-to-door sales, no-soliciting violations, panel-removal delays, service delays, and a $1,500 cancellation fee dispute. One more oddity worth knowing: the ionsolar.com homepage state list omits Oklahoma entirely, even though the company runs a dedicated Oklahoma page, BBB lists Oklahoma in its service area, and Solar Power World verifies Oklahoma installs.

The grade cap comes from two government records. On November 4, 2024, ION Solar settled with the Utah Division of Consumer Protection over 2,999 alleged violations of the Utah Residential Solar Energy Disclosure Act for failing to provide a required disclosure document, agreeing to a $32,000 fine and a cease and desist. Separately, the US Department of Labor reported in June 2023 that ION had been cited 12 times by OSHA since 2018, including a willful fall-protection citation with a $170,992 proposed penalty after inspectors found employees on an icy two-story roof without fall protection. Neither item happened in Oklahoma. Both describe how the company sells and how it runs job sites, which is exactly what an Oklahoma homeowner is buying. Under our rubric, government enforcement caps a grade at D.

The strengths are real and worth stating plainly. ION is the only company on our Oklahoma City track with third party volume evidence: 2026 Solar Power World rank 70 nationally with 56,430.60 kW installed, and rank 6 in Oklahoma with 870.53 kW installed in the state. Its Oklahoma page publishes an actual warranty stack, a 10 year workmanship guarantee covering work performed on your home during installation, 25 year product workmanship and 30 year power output warranties on panels, 25 year inverter coverage, and 10 years on the Tesla Powerwall 3. It also states installs are performed by a 100 percent in-house team. Those published terms beat most of what we see, though they remain company claims until they are in your contract.

On licensing, Oklahoma has no solar-specific license; the credential is the CIB electrical contractor license, held by a company or its qualifying electrician. The complete CIB electrical roster contains no ION SOLAR, no name containing SOLAR, and no entry for owner Jimmy Slemboski. The roster lists people, not companies, so a qualifying electrician under another surname would not surface. No license was found under the names checked. Before signing, ask ION for the name and CIB license number of the electrician of record for your permit, get the disclosure paperwork the Utah settlement was about, and read it before the sales rep leaves.
