Mpower Solar LLC serves New York City's five boroughs and markets solar design, installation, permitting, and long-term care. The company says it has completed 1,200+ NYC installs, while an older version of its site says over 4,500 installations and 20+ years of experience. Those are the company's own numbers, and we treat them as claims. Its public licensing record is thin: no license number appears on the company or BBB pages, and the NYC DCWP dataset query returned no matching record, though that negative result is not conclusive. It also publishes two different warranty descriptions, so a shopper should not rely on the headline without the current contract. We found no basis to connect Mpower Solar LLC to a separate NYS proceeding involving Mpower Energy LLC, and do not make that assertion here.

BBB reports an A+ rating, accreditation since August 14, 2023, and two complaints in the last three years, both closed. Search results surfaced a separate NYS PSC proceeding involving Mpower Energy LLC, but the research does not establish that entity as Mpower Solar LLC or an affiliate. It would be wrong to transfer another company's record onto this one.

Mpower publishes no license number, BBB lists none, and the NYC DCWP Legally Operating Businesses query returned no matching MPOWER or MPOWER SOLAR record, although one query attempt also returned a gateway error. The company's NYSERDA and NABCEP statements are certifications it claims for its teams, not a substitute for a verifiable contractor or electrician credential.

Warranty termsPending verification

The current about page says a 25-year guarantee covers workmanship, panels, and inverters. An older page instead lists 10-year workmanship, five-year roof penetration, and 25-year panel performance coverage. That is not a minor wording difference. Ask for the current written warranty and confirm labor, roof penetration, equipment, and production terms before signing.

How to read this

Mpower's record has enough public material to merit a conversation, not enough to justify skipping your checks. The license gap is the decisive issue, and it caps the grade at C under our rubric. Ask who will pull electrical permits, the name and number of the NYC DOB licensed electrician on your job, and whether the company holds a current DCWP Home Improvement Contractor license. Then compare the exact warranty attached to the contract against both versions of the company's public promises. Do not assume the ESCO proceeding applies here just because the names look alike.
