NOCO Residential

NOCO is not a solar installer first, and this page will not pretend otherwise. The entity behind the NOCO Residential listing is NOCO Energy Corp., a domestic business corporation filed with the New York Department of State on January 12, 1948, DOS ID 81404, Erie County. Its homepage says it has been around for over 90 years and lists propane, fuels, generators, heating and cooling, geothermal, plumbing, and natural gas and electricity supply, with solar as one line among them. BBB files the company under Heating Contractors with 15 business categories, every one of them HVAC or fuels and none of them solar. That is a fuel and furnace company with a solar page, which is a perfectly good thing to be. It is not what our grading scale measures, so we apply the same no-grade call we use for cleaning services and sales platforms.

Here is what the record shows about the solar line specifically. On the commercial side, NOCO's own launch announcement says it partnered with National Solar Technologies, that NOCO will serve as a project consultant, and that NOCO customers will work with National Solar Technologies to design, develop and install the system. The commercial solar page repeats it: as your project consultant, NOCO oversees the install of your system from NST. So for a business buyer, the installer is NST, a Buffalo firm the announcement says has built commercial solar since 1997, and NOCO is the account manager. On the residential side the site says NOCO designs and installs customized solar systems, and the FAQ says NOCO Solar will handle the NY-Sun paperwork. We checked. The official NYSERDA project dataset, which records the contractor of record on every completed NY-Sun project, returns zero rows for any NOCO name. The City of Buffalo license dataset has no license of any kind under NOCO Energy Corp.; the only NOCO hit is a plumbing license held by a separately named Eden company whose relationship to NOCO is not stated. NOCO is headquartered in the Town of Tonawanda, which does require contractor licensing, but no online roster could be found to check. Whether residential solar crews are NOCO employees or a partner is not stated on any page we read. Put plainly: the residential installs claim has no government record behind it, and the commercial model is a partner install by NOCO's own description.

Some facts are worth having if you go ahead anyway. The residential FAQ promises a five year labor warranty, described as bumper to bumper, alongside manufacturer terms of 25 years on panels, 12 to 25 years on inverters, and about 10 years on batteries. Five years of labor coverage is short next to the 15 year term another Buffalo company publishes. BBB shows 2 complaints in the last 3 years and 1 closed in the last 12 months, both HVAC: an October 2025 furnace inspection dispute left unanswered and a December 2023 complaint over an $8,475 HVAC installation, answered by a manager signing for NOCO Mechanical. No solar complaint appears. The profile is not accredited and showed no rating letter. One federal enforcement item names this entity: a 2015 EPA administrative settlement over 1,236 invalid renewable fuel credits used to meet a 2011 obligation, closed with a civil penalty of $124. It concerns the fuels business, not solar, and our rubric flags any government enforcement regardless of size, so the criterion below carries the flag with that context attached. Do not confuse this company with The NOCO Company of Glenwillow, Ohio, a battery charger maker with its own California settlement and trademark cases; search results mix them up constantly. If you want solar from NOCO, ask three questions before anything else: who is the installer of record, whose license is the permit pulled under, and whose name is on the workmanship warranty. If the answers are not NOCO, grade the company that gives them instead.
