ReVision Energy

B
Provisional grade. Longevity, ownership, and volume are verified and clean. The license numbers on record belong to its Sunbug subsidiary, not the parent entity, and the published workmanship warranty comes from a New Hampshire page. Both gaps hold the grade at B.
ReVision Energy is a 2003-founded, 100% employee-owned installer headquartered in Maine with Massachusetts offices in North Andover and Westfield. It holds a BBB A+ rating, ranked #14 on the 2026 Solar Power World Massachusetts list with 3,986.91 kW installed in 2025, and acquired Somerville-based Sunbug Solar in 2023. It is a certified B Corp and describes itself as the largest employee-owned solar installer in the country. The MA license numbers we found are registered to the Sunbug entity, so we score licensing as pending for the parent company.

The evidence

LongevityVerified

Founded 2003 as EnergyWorks in Belfast, Maine, merged in 2008 to form ReVision Energy. BBB business start date January 14, 2003 matches the company account, which is rare. 23 years of continuous operation as of 2026, plus an ESOP conversion in 2017 that makes a quiet exit or roll-up less likely.

Complaints and enforcementPending verification

BBB rating A+, not accredited. No lawsuits, regulatory actions, or distress signals surfaced in our research. But BBB does not state a complaint count on this profile, and a missing number is not the same as zero. We score this pending until a count is visible.

Verifiable volumeVerified

Ranked #14 on the 2026 Solar Power World Top Massachusetts Solar Contractors list with 3,986.91 kW installed in MA during 2025, and #88 nationally with 41,030 kW. Trade press also documents 288,869 kW since founding and the Sunbug acquisition that brought more than 4,000 MA installs into the company.

License statusPending verification

BBB lists MA licenses 21070 (Division of Professional Licensure) and 163091 (HIC) for the Sunbug Solar entity in Westfield. No license number is published anywhere for ReVision Energy, Inc. itself, and Massachusetts does not offer a machine-readable lookup to confirm status. Ask which entity will pull your permit and get its numbers in writing.

Warranty termsPending verification

A 10-year residential workmanship warranty is published, but on the company's New Hampshire proposal page. Sunbug-installed systems carry their own 10-year residential term. Whether the NH terms apply verbatim to Massachusetts contracts is not documented, so confirm the MA warranty language before signing.

How to read this

This is one of the cleaner records in our Massachusetts set: two decades of operation, employee ownership, real trade-press volume, and nothing adverse on file. What keeps it at B is paperwork, not conduct. The licenses we can find belong to the acquired Sunbug entity and the published warranty is a New Hampshire document. Two written answers from a sales rep would resolve both. Our full rubric, including how our own installation business gets graded on the same scale, is on the methodology page. We are a solar installer and we partner with other solar companies. Grading is structurally separated from revenue; see disclosures.
