Start with the item that decides the grade. On November 12, 2025, CSLB closed complaint N A 2024 9664 against Senga Energy with a Letter of Admonishment, citing Business and Professions Code 7109.A, departed from trade standards, and 7159.D7, no description of project, materials or equipment to be used in the contract. An admonishment is the mildest disciplinary outcome the board issues, well short of a citation or revocation, and license 1033247 remains current and active through November 2027. But it is issued state discipline, it sits on the public record, and it is recent. Our rubric caps any company with government enforcement at D regardless of how the rest of the file reads.

The rest of the file reads better than the grade suggests. The company has operated since 2016 per BBB and its own site, holds C10 Electrical and C17 Glazing classifications, and carries an A+ BBB rating with 4 complaints in 3 years. Those complaints have substance, though: an add-on where 9 new panels ran independently of the existing 13 and produced a true-up bill near $1,700, a financing and inverter-size dispute on a Sunnova contract, install delays, and a contract signed by an elderly stroke patient that the company cancelled on request. In each case Senga responded and in several it paid, reimbursing two months of solar bills in one and offering to cover a PG&E balance in another. That pattern, problems followed by fixes, is consistent with the contract-paperwork violation the board cited.

Two more things before you take a quote. Despite the Folsom listing, both CSLB and BBB place the office in El Dorado Hills, at two different addresses; Folsom is simply a city it serves in its Gold Country footprint. And the published warranty splits sharply by deal type: PPA and lease customers get a 25-year full system warranty covering parts, labor, monitoring, and performance, plus a 25-year roof penetration warranty, while cash and financed buyers get only the manufacturer warranties. The license also saw churn in 2025, with a new qualifying individual associating in July and another QI bond posted in November. If you engage, get the project description, equipment list, and warranty scope in the signed contract, which is exactly what the state said this company failed to do.
