Do not seek a quote from TriSMART Solar. The company appears to have stopped operating without saying so. CBS News Texas reported that a December email from the CEO said the main customer service line would not be staffed, that at least three of six listed executives had left by then per their LinkedIn pages, and that a former VP of field operations wrote in January he was furloughed because TriSMART had paused business operations with no return date. A customer's monitoring app listed the company as out of business. Meanwhile trismartsolar.com still presents the company as open, still claims 17,000 projects through 2024, and still invites dealers to sign up. No bankruptcy filing was found and the Texas entity remains active, which makes this worse for homeowners, not better: there is no court process, no trustee, and no one answering the phone.

A word on licensing, because Texas does this differently. Texas has no state solar contractor license; it licenses the electrician, and a solar installer operates under a TDLR Electrical Contractor license, a TECL. TriSMART Solar LLC holds TECL 32259, status Active, expiring December 12, 2026. But the TDLR record read on August 26, 2026 displays "No Master found." A TECL normally lists a master electrician of record. Its absence is consistent with the reported staffing collapse and it matters in practice, because permits and service work run through that master. An active license number with nobody behind it is not a license you can hire.

The complaint record is as bad as the operational one. BBB rates TriSMART F, not accredited, with a Pattern of Complaints alert and 84 complaints in the last 3 years, 44 closed in the last 12 months. All 10 published complaints carried status Unanswered, and BBB cites failure to respond to 26 complaints among the rating reasons. The 2026 complaints allege roof leaks from installation nails, a disconnected phone number, and worry about a promised 30 year installation warranty with the company out of business. One customer whose panels failed said she called dozens of times and sent 14 emails with no response while GoodLeap kept billing her $67,000 solar loan. Two federal consumer lawsuits name the company, a Truth in Lending case and a contract case, both in the Southern District of Texas. To be precise about what was not found: no government enforcement action names TriSMART. The Texas Attorney General's solar crackdown targets other companies, and this grade does not rest on it.

If you already have a TriSMART system, your loan does not pause because the installer did. EcoWatch states TriSMART does not offer a workmanship warranty covering labor, and the equipment warranties it lists, REC panels at 25 years, Enphase inverters at 25 years, Tesla batteries at 10 years, run to the manufacturers, not to TriSMART. Keep your contract and permit documents, register equipment claims directly with the manufacturers, and use an active licensed electrical contractor for any service work.
