Get a quote from Velaz Solar only if you are willing to treat its marketing as unverified and its paperwork as the real story. The paperwork is thin but genuine. Velaz Solar LLC of 308 South Park Street, Elizabeth, holds New Jersey Home Improvement Contractor registration 13VH13569100, status Active, owners Dion Velazquez and Janpier Velazquez, expiring March 31, 2027. That is the credential New Jersey requires for residential contracting, and it checks out. What does not exist is any electrical contractor license under the Velaz name: a business search of the Electrical Contractors profession on the state lookup returned zero results. Ask who holds the 34EB permit for the electrical work on your job, because it is not this company.

Now the part that drives the grade. The HIC registration was issued March 19, 2025, roughly 17 months before this research. BBB records the business as started the same day, March 19, 2025, incorporated April 15, 2022, and lists Years in Business as 1. Against that, the company's about page says "Established in 2020" and, one block later, claims "nearly a decade of experience", and the homepage banner reads "TRUSTED BY OVER 148K+ HOMEOWNERS". No official record supports 2020 operations, and nothing anywhere supports 148,000 customers for a company the state registered last year. We do not repeat that figure as fact, and neither should you. The rubric treats claims a public record contradicts as a material concern, not a rounding error, which is why this lands at D despite a clean enforcement search.

The complaint file is small and specific. BBB rates Velaz A-, accredited since April 28, 2026, and states the reason for the minus is length of time in operation. There is 1 complaint in the last 3 years, dated April 25, 2026: a family member reported a door to door salesman continuing a pitch to an elderly homeowner the family said could not make financial decisions, with her social security card in hand, followed by another call after a no contact demand. The company answered on June 2, 2026 with an apology, a Do Not Contact placement, and an internal review. One complaint is not a pattern. It is, however, a sales conduct complaint, and this is a door to door operation. No AG or DCA action naming the company was found, and it does not appear on either 2026 Solar Power World list.

Warranty is the other gap. The homepage lists a "25-Year Warranty", the FAQ says the panels carry up to 25 years for performance and materials, and the about page mentions a "30-year solar insurance plan" with no terms. None of that is a workmanship warranty. The company says it uses a 100 percent in house team with no third party contractors, which is worth writing into the contract if true. If you proceed, get the workmanship term in writing, get the electrical licensee named, and ask them to reconcile 2020 with the state's March 2025 issue date before you sign.
