Venture Home

Venture Home is the biggest operation in this Connecticut batch and also the one with the heaviest file. The legal entity is Venture Home Solar LLC, doing business as Venture Solar until a February 2026 rebrand to Venture Home, so older reviews, complaints, and court records all reference the old name. The company claims 15,000 or more systems installed since 2014 with in-house W-2 crews across an 11-jurisdiction footprint from Maine to DC. None of that volume shows up in the 2026 Solar Power World national or Connecticut tables, so the number stays a company claim, but the multi-state offices and a hundreds-of-staff claim make clear this is not a two-truck shop.

The complaint record is where you should slow down. The BBB profile for the Connecticut headquarters shows an A+ rating and accreditation, and right below that, 38 complaints in the last 3 years with 21 closed in the last 12 months. Complaint content on that page includes a consumer filing with a Connecticut consumer agency and a town rejecting permits three times over installation errors. Then there is the litigation. James v. Venture Home Solar, filed in federal court in Connecticut in October 2021, was a proposed class action alleging CUTPA violations, negligent misrepresentation, and unjust enrichment over electric-bill offsets that plaintiffs said never materialized; in June 2022 the court compelled two plaintiffs to arbitration, and a further ruling issued in February 2024. That is private litigation, not government enforcement, and no AG or consumer-protection action naming Venture was found. But a savings-claims class action is exactly the failure mode a solar buyer should price in: get every production and savings figure in the contract, not in the pitch.

On licensing, Connecticut works through eLicense, and what Venture actually holds is a company-level Home Improvement Contractor registration, HIC.0650479 under the DBA Venture Solar, active through March 31, 2027, plus an active Electrician E-2 apprenticeship sponsor registration. The electrical license it advertises, ELC.0200835-E1, belongs to Jason P Sampogna, an active E-1 Electrical Unlimited Contractor first licensed in 2014. The state record puts him at 327 Captain Lewis Drive in Southington, the same address as Venture's office and its apprenticeship registration, but the license record itself shows no DBA tie to Venture; the connection rests on that address match and on Venture's own Connecticut page claiming the number. That is a reasonable inference, not a state-recorded link, so we mark it pending rather than verified. No PV-1 or PV-2 limited solar contractor license appeared for the company, and the Sampogna E-1 expires September 30, 2026, so check it renewed before you sign.
