West Coast Solar is a real, long-running contractor with two problems you should read before requesting a quote. The exact CSLB entity is West Coast Solar Inc, a corporation on license 908549, current and active with C-46 Solar, C-39 Roofing, and C-10 Electrical classifications, issued December 28, 2007 and expiring December 31, 2027. The company has operated since 2007, says its own technicians handle the entire installation with no subcontractors, and publishes a 25 year limited warranty covering defects in roof-related work and the labor cost of replacing components under manufacturer warranties.
Problem one is enforcement history. Cal/OSHA opened an accident inspection of West Coast Solar Inc at a Brentwood site on May 3, 2018. The case closed August 14, 2018 with 3 citations, including two portable ladder standards, at $18,400 in initial penalties reduced to $13,000 current. BBB's own pages also conflict on whether the company is accredited. The warranty numbers are inconsistent too: the warranty page says 25 years, a blog page says 10. Yelp shows 4.4 from 200 reviews. If you proceed, get the warranty term and the crew claim into the contract, and pull the license record the day you sign.
