Worth a quote if you live in the greater Los Angeles area, with one caveat about how little third-party data exists. The CSLB record is clean and easy to follow: Xero Solar, a corporation (the CSLB business information shows the name without Inc. or LLC appended), license 992157, active with C-10 Electrical and C-46 Solar classifications, issued April 16, 2014 and expiring April 30, 2028. Qualifying individual Benedict John Lochtenberg has certified 10 percent or more ownership since the 2014 issue date, which means the same person has anchored the license for twelve years. The company says he founded Xero Solar in 2010 in Manhattan Beach, and two cancelled Manhattan Beach licenses carrying the Xero Solar name (964332 and 988379) are consistent with that story, though the current license history starts in 2014.
The operational claims are stronger than most. The company states its installation crew is never subcontracted and that account management, engineering, permitting, installation, project management, and service all sit in-house in one office. It describes itself as a Tesla Certified Installer for Powerwall and Solar Roof, and the California Solar & Storage Association member directory lists it at the El Segundo address with license 992157. The CSLB record shows no publicly disclosable complaint or enforcement matter; the only miscellaneous entry is a routine 2015 home improvement salesperson letter.
Now the thin part. No BBB profile was found, so there is no independent complaint tally to weigh, good or bad. The company appears on none of the three Solar Power World lists reviewed, so installation volume is unverified. And no workmanship warranty duration is published anywhere we fetched; the about page says the service team remains available for the life of the system and provides a one-year performance report, which is a service posture, not a warranty. A clean record with this little public data lands at B, not A. If you get a proposal, make the warranty duration, scope, and exclusions a written part of it.

Read this B as clean but underdocumented. Nothing adverse turned up, and the license has been stable under one owner since 2014, but the absence of a BBB profile, published volume, and written warranty terms means the public record simply cannot confirm as much as it can for larger companies. Ask Xero Solar for recent local references, the warranty in writing, and confirmation in the contract that the crew on your job is its own, since the no-subcontractor claim is the company's, not the state's.
